Ed O'Reilly, Superintendent

Message from the Superintendent
2012-2013 School Year

Welcome to the Grandview Heights City Schools. Whether you are new to the area or are a long time resident of our district, you will find that the community has a special relationship with the school. The common thread between all families is that they are proud of their school district.

For years, the community and the schools have worked closely together to build this unique educational opportunity for the children of the district. Through hard work and the on-going support of the community, a tradition of excellence that is second to none in the State of Ohio has been established.

While the demands of the State and Federal government continue to grow, the school staff and the community continue to take on additional responsibilities to help uphold the expectation for a high quality education that defines Grandview Heights City Schools. Staff members work hard to meet the demands of State testing and other legislative requirements, while the community is asked for a greater level of financial support for our students because of the challenges of Ohio’s school funding model and unfunded State mandates.

These demands can be viewed as roadblocks to success or obstacles that help us grow together. Since I began working with the school district in the fall of 2006, it has been obvious that this community has chosen to grow together and meet challenges head-on. What a tremendous model for our children to follow.

Looking at a variety of results from last year, it is clear that the tradition of excellence continues.  Grandview Heights students met 26 of 26 indicators on the State report card and received an outstanding performance index score of 107.3.  Our scholars, athletes, musicians, and artists also continued to excel. These accomplishments occur when great school staffs share a common vision with students and community members.

However, we cannot rest on past accomplishments. For the tradition to remain, we must continue to focus our energy, time, and resources on our most important gift, our children. As a school district, we are committed to maximizing and personalizing every student’s learning. As your Superintendent, I am committed to providing our students and staff with buildings that are focused on student achievement while establishing a tone of trust and decency for all.

Like each of you, I am here to serve our children. I appreciate your pride in the tradition of excellence and thank you for your continued support.

Go Bobcats!
