Ask the Librarian
Ask Mrs. Farynowski questions by emailing her at
dfarynowski@grandviewschools.org then check
back here now and then to see if your questions have been answered.

Q: What is your favorite book this year?
A: I was so happy that the Lion and the Mouse won the Caldecott.   It is breathtaking! For the older students, Catching Fire, the sequel to Hunger Games, is a definite page turner.

Q: What are you reading right now?
A. I am now reading Zoobreak  by Gordon Korman.  This is the sequel to Swindle.  This fast paced series will capture everyone's interest.

Q: What is your favorite time of the school year?
A: I especially like the weeks of book fair and author visits. Book fair allows us to see the new fiction and non-fiction books. I am always amazed and delighted with our author visits. It is fun to meet and learn from them.

Edison Intermediate/Middle School Events

Start saving those books for book swap!  Book swap will be held on Wednesday, April 7th, the week we return from spring break.  We will start collecting books before spring break. Students are encouraged to bring in books that are in excellent condition and that someone would like to read.  Boys and girls can bring in as many as they wish, but the limit to select books is three.

Edison Intermediate/Middle School Projects

In fourth grade we are writing poems that correspond with their art projects on insects.  Our poems are very creative!  In fifth grade, we are learning about the Dewey Decimal system and how it helps us locate books in the nonfiction section.

Maggie Mills will be working in both libraries as my student teacher.  She is currently teaching social studies to fifth graders at Columbus Academy.  She is working on her degree in library science.  We are pleased to have her join us!

Stevenson Events
All students have a library lesson and a check-out time once a week.ᅠ Students may check out a total of three books that should include two fiction books and one non-fiction book.ᅠ

Stevenson Special Projects

We are looking forward to our visiting illustrator, Tim Bowers.  He will be at RLS on Wednesday, February 24th.  He has illustrated numerous books.  He will show the students some writing techniques.  The library will be selling his books and he will autograph them.  A book order form was sent home.  If you wish to order books, please return the order from by February 24th.  Many thanks to PTO for their financial support.
