SOROPTOMIST INTERNATIONAL is an organization of professional women who work to improve the lives of other young women in the community • Open to 14-17 year old females • $150 award • Opportunity to advance to regional level • 750 word essay on why you volunteer • Deadline December 1, 2007 • Copies available in guidance center SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP (specifically related to the advancement of mobility technology) • $500-$1000 in scholarships (OSU offers 3 for $500 each) • Need high school transcript • 250 word essay • 2 letters of reference • Deadline is December 1, 2007 • $5 processing fee ELKS MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP • 6 local winners from Central Ohio • Those advancing to state level may earn $1000 • Those not advancing may earn $500 from the Grove City Lodge Chapter • Application must include: -Transcript -Parent financial statement -Letters of recommendation -500 word essay • Deadline is January 11, 2008 Get copies from your guidance counselor
ESA Scholarship Thirty-three scholarships are available (of which seniors can apply for three) and can be found at the following website - http://www.esaint.com/easf/. Click on scholarship applications; click on lists of scholarships by state (Ohio); click on scholarship applications. Download application or obtain one from the guidance department. Students need: • Personal letter • Two letters of recommendation • Transcript • $5.00 processing fee • 3.0 GPA or higher • Parents must complete financial information The deadline is February 1, 2008. WalMart Community Scholarship This is a non-renewable $1,000 award for the first year of undergraduate study. The student cannot be connected to a WalMart employee. • Deadline is January 14, 2008. • Students apply online at: www.walmartfoundation.org. Big 33 Schoarship Students in Ohio and Pennsylvania can apply for scholarships at the following website: www.big33.com. Counselors must certify the applications so students must tell us that they have applied. The window is November 2007 to February 2008. Central Ohio Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union • Five scholarships of $1000 each are available • Deadline is March 3, 2008 • Two short answer questions and an essay are required. The essay asks “How will the financial decisions you make today impact the rest of you life and how can a credit union help you with these decisions”. Applications are available in the guidance center. Ask your counselors for applications. United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship Program Four scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to entering freshmen of four year colleges. Two are need based and two are academic based. Criteria considered are: leadership, honors and awards, employment and financial need statement/ • Up to five references are allowed • A personal statement of grades is also required (up to 300 words) Get completed applications in the guidance center.
